Thank you for your email.

 We offer two research programmes.

The first - Route A - is a 4 year course. The first year of this course (MRes) must be completed full time.

For more information on the application procedure see the pdf documents under the `Routes of study` section of our website: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/security-crime-science/study/postgraduate-research.

We do not supply hard copies of information on the integrated PhD, instead detailed information is available on our above website. Please read through this site thoroughly as it has been designed to provide all the information needed to apply to the programme.

This is a four-year course. Students are not able (regardless of background) to enter in the second year. Please note that this course is not available as a part-time course. You are required to attend the first year full time and will be expected to be at lectures or otherwise engage in events relating to your studies for a full working week. It is possible that the final three years may be taken on a part time basis.

The second - Route B - is a 3 year course. This is for applicants who are ready to go straight into their research. You must include a comprehensive research proposal as part of your application.

For more information on the application procedure see the `Route B` pdf document on our website: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/security-crime-science/study/postgraduate-research#Routes%20of%20study. The course can be taken full time over 3 years or part time over 5.

We also suggest that you look at http://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/graduate for information regarding the application procedure.

Before submitting an application for either routes, you must contact potential supervisors prior to applying and discuss your research proposal and whether they will supervise you. Here you will find a list of potential supervisors: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/security-crime-science/study/postgraduate-research/areas-study
